IP Tips

What is an IP address?

An IP address is a unique identifier for devices on the internet, like a street address, used for locating and communication.

IPv4 vs IPv6

IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses (e.g. 192.168.1.1), IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses (e.g. 2001:db8::1), providing vastly more addresses.

Public IP vs Private IP

Public IPs are globally unique and accessible from outside; private IPs (e.g. 192.168.x.x) are only used within local networks.

Privacy Note

IP geolocation shows approximate location (city level), not precise addresses.
