Features
The Color Blindness Simulator is based on the Brettel/Viénot algorithm. It simulates how colors and images appear under 8 common types of color vision deficiencies, helping designers and developers ensure their interfaces are friendly to color-blind users.
- Protanopia:Inability to perceive red light. Red appears darker or yellowish.
- Deuteranopia:Inability to perceive green light. Green and red are easily confused.
- Tritanopia:Inability to perceive blue light. Blue and yellow are hard to distinguish.
- Achromatopsia:Complete inability to perceive color. Only grayscale is visible.
- Protanomaly:Reduced sensitivity to red light. Red saturation appears lower.
- Deuteranomaly:Reduced sensitivity to green light. The most common color vision deficiency.
- Tritanomaly:Reduced sensitivity to blue light. Blue saturation appears lower.
- Blue Cone Monochromacy:Only blue cone cells function. Vision is close to grayscale.
How to Use
- Select Color: Use the color picker or enter a HEX code manually. You can also click a preset color for quick selection.
- Color Simulation: See in real time how the selected color appears under 8 color vision deficiencies. Click a color block to copy the simulated HEX value.
- Image Simulation: After uploading an image, switch between grid view and comparison view to see how it looks from a color-blind perspective.
- Palette Score: Add multiple colors to the palette and the system will automatically calculate friendliness scores for each type of color blindness.
- Alternative Color Recommendations: When scores are low, the system recommends color-blind friendly alternative colors for reference.
Tip: About 8% of men and 0.5% of women worldwide have some form of color vision deficiency. Always consider color-blind accessibility in your designs.
